So in the tradition of newspapers and magazines across the country, the Chicago Reader is putting together its first-ever “Best of Chicago” issue. We were browsing through many cool categories such as Arts & Architecture, Bars & Clubs, Restaurants, Music, Movies, etc… and happened upon the Media link… Hey — there’s a space to type in a nomination for the best Chicago podcast. That got us thinking. The OTL Radio broadcasts you’ve come to love started out as a podcast, and we continue to podcast our show every week. We’re not saying… we’re just saying… ya know! + If you’re so inclined, head on over to the Reader‘s site and vote by May 19th! In fact, we’re going to head over there right now and put in a good word for ourselves. And we’ll probably do the same tomorrow and the day after. Outside the Loop RADIO just came off another triumphant appearance on WBEW 89.5-FM (aka Vocalo.org) yesterday. Host Dan Weissmann was pulling a marathon shift on New Year’s Eve, and asked us to stop by to play some of our stuff as well as some clips we picked from their site. (Check out the sweet alfalfa hat hair!) The audio* is below, but please bear with us as we once again tried out the OTL digital camera’s video capabilities again… (testing our video recorder) (looking confused) (Mike talking about one of our segments) Thanks again to Dan and Vocalo.org — we really appreciate all your support! Can’t get enough Outside the Loop RADIO? Oh… you can, eh? Well, we can’t! We’ll accept about any invitation we get to appear on other media outlets (our contact info is at the bottom of this page), and so far we’ve been lucky enough to garner interest from a quality operation called Vocalo.org right here in Chicago! We hung out with host Dan Weissmann back in November, and he’s invited us back to play more clips from our show as well as user-generated audio from their site and airwaves. We’ve both had a chance to listen to 89.5-FM while speeding through parts of Indiana and Michigan — it’s always a mindwarp to hear your own voice on the radio! So please check us out at 3p CT on Monday 12/31 for some live in-studio hijinks. Dan’s show will be rebroadcast at various times in the near future, so you might just hear us when you least suspect it!
